The Rev. Dr. Jack Mannschreck grew up on a farm on the Michigan-Ohio border (three acres in Ohio) and has served as a United Methodist Pastor in the Detroit Metropolitan area for 42 years. Jack met his wife of 40 years, Ruth, in his first appointment at Grosse Pointe United Methodist Church. Ruth is the daughter of Rev. Dr. Bill and Ruth Cooper and a retired dentist, now business coach.
Having served eight years as an Associate Pastor at Grosse Pointe UMC, Jack went on to serve Oxford UMC (10 years), Troy Big Beaver UMC (11 years) and Waterford Central UMC (13 years). Jack is proud of these long-term ministries and the opportunity to serve four wonderful churches! God has truly blessed us!
Jack served on the District Committees on Ministry in the former Port Huron District and presently on the Greater Detroit District. He also served as the Chair of the Detroit Conference Board of Discipleship as well as the Board Of Ordained Ministry.
As an “education junky,” Jack is proud to be an interdisciplinary student with degrees from Michigan State University (Medical Tech.), Boston University (M.Div.), Wayne State University (M.B.A.) and Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary (D.Min.).
Ruth and Jack will be retiring to the north woods of Michigan to enjoy the next chapter in their lives to enjoy family and friends, especially their five grandchildren. With God’s blessing, they also plan to travel more as well with a well-defined bucket list. Bon Voyage!
