Rev. Carol J. Freeland

I can’t believe that it is time to even consider retirement.

I have been blessed to serve in the Detroit and Michigan conferences at the following churches: Iron River, Kingston, Hudson, and West Forest. I am currently at Otisville and West Vienna where I will remain half time in my retirement.

I have really loved my work on the Journal Committee and the Board of Global Ministries.

I have met so many wonderful people along the way, and have created many amazing relationships. I say I don’t have friends, only family. I am grateful to the many mentors I have had, starting with my first husband the late Rev. Cleon Abbott whose voice I still hear on a regular basis. Also the late Barbara Lewis Lakin, Rev. Ron Iris and Rev. Jim Tuttle, who continues to share words of wisdom with me.

I am grateful to the late Rev. Mark Spaw and Rev. Elbert Dulworth who trusted me in my first appointment. I am thankful for Rev. Elizabeth Hill whose love, support and encouragement was priceless.

I have learned many things about people, and myself over the years. I have created three mantras that I share often, and pray that my church family remembers these. 1. Life is about choices. 2. Life is about forgiveness, and that includes forgiving ourselves. 3. Love always wins PERIOD. I have a goal everyday and that is to make Jesus smile.

I am very thankful for my License to Preach class of 2011 and very proud of each of them for their contributions to God’s ministry in the world.

I appreciate all of my family and their support over the years and my Love to my husband Rev. Dave Freeland.

I give God the glory, honor and praise for using me a broken vessel to share and minister in all the places I have been.
