After over 44 years of ministry, beginning with my ordination as a deacon in the New York Annual Conference in 1981, it has been my privilege to serve as a United Methodist pastor in Whitmore Lake (1983-1993), Ortonville (1993-1998), Saginaw State Street UMC (1998-2003), Au Gres and Twining (2003-2012), Chesaning (2012-2021), and Leland Community UMC since 2021. God has blessed me with an amazing life filled with adventures and challenges and people whom I will remember for the rest of my life. The goal has always been to shine the Light of Christ while serving God’s children with joyfulness, compassion and integrity. I have been honored to share God’s Word through preaching, teaching, and serving in times of celebration, times of sadness, times of anxiety, and times of loss and fear. I could not have done this without the constant strength of God, the love of Jesus, and the whimsical guidance of the Holy Spirit. I am reminded of a quote I read years ago that captures my feeling about this moment in my life. “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, “Woo-Hoo! What a ride!””
